This B2 course, which is offered to students who achieved MUET Band 4, aims to develop their listening and speaking skills related to subjects encountered in personal and academic life. Part one includes listening tasks using different texts on familiar and unfamiliar topics. The tasks engage students in different listening activities designed to help them to develop the ability to understand the gist of the listening materials, extract main ideas and specific details, and follow arguments. Part two focuses on the development of speaking skills in which the tasks engage students in oral production and interaction activities which require the use of production strategies, e.g. planning and compensating, and interaction strategies, e.g. turn taking and asking for clarification. Students are assessed by means of speaking and listening assignments. At the end of this course, they are expected to understand main points on both concrete and abstract topics and produce clear, detailed descriptions and presentations on selected issues related to their field of interest.
